CUET UG 2025 will only be offered as a computer-based exam (CBT) starting in 2025. Students will be allowed the opportunity to take any subject, regardless of what they studied. According to UGC Chairman Jagadesh K. Kumar, class 12 is the latest in education.

CUET UG In an interview with PTI Kumar stated that an expert panel established by the University Grants Commission conducted a review and suggested several changes.
The exam will only be administered in CBT mode starting 2025, unlike the hybrid mode used last year. “We have reduced the number from 63 subjects to 37, and admissions will be based on scores in the General Aptitude Test” (GAT).
He added that candidates will be able to choose subjects they did not study in class twelve in CUET UG, allowing them to break down the rigid boundaries of higher education.
Changes in CUET UG 2025 edition
In explaining the changes for the 2025 edition, Kumar stated that students can now take CUET-UG exams in a maximum five subjects instead of six as previously.
The exam duration, which previously varied between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the subject, is now standardised at 60 minutes. “The concept of optional questions has been eliminated and now all questions are compulsory,” Kumar said.
CUET-UG had a number of technical problems in the first exam edition, which was held in 2022. As a result, scores for one subject had to be adjusted during the results announcement because tests were conducted in multiple shifts. In 2024, the exam was held in hybrid mode. The exam was cancelled in Delhi the night before due to logistical issues.
