The exam will be conducted in 3 stages, including a Prelims, a Mains paper, and an interview as the final stage. The selected candidates will be placed all over Karnataka in various government departments.

On 1st September 2024, the Karnataka CM announced that the KAS Prelims will be rescheduled. The reason is the error in the question paper in translation from English to Kannada.
