Maharishi Balmiki Chatravriti Yojana: The Hemant Soren government of Jharkhand has started the Valmiki Yojana for disabled and orphan students. Under this scheme, in the new session, the government will bear the tuition fees of up to Rs 10 lakh for 1200 students for professional courses and 12 thousand students for graduation and post-graduation studies. Along with this, Rs 4 thousand will also be given for monthly expenses.

There is good news for the disabled and orphan students of Jharkhand.For the new academic session 2025-26, the state government will bear the entire expenditure on higher and technical education for all the differently-abled and orphaned students of the state. Under this, the state government will also bear the tuition fees up to Rs 10 lakh. Along with this, Rs 4 thousand more will be given per month.

Maharishi Balmiki Chatravriti Yojana: You can apply through the portal

After the state government bears the cost of education of disabled and orphan students, the students will have to bear only the cost of hostel and boarding and lodging. However, for this also they will be given Rs. 4000 per month as allowance for other expenses.

A portal is also being built so that students can apply online to avail this benefit. After the construction is completed, eligible students will be able to apply for this scheme.

Valmiki Scholarship Scheme

Under this Valmiki Scholarship Scheme starting from the new academic session, it is estimated that every year 1200 students will be benefited for professional courses and 12 thousand students for graduation and post graduation studies. However, no maximum limit of beneficiaries has been fixed.

All eligible students can apply for this. The state government has estimated an expenditure of Rs 99.66 crore per year on this scheme.

A committee will also be formed

For monitoring this scheme, a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Director of Higher Education in which the Director of Social Security, Director of Technical Education, Personnel Department and an officer of the Women and Child Development Department will be its members. This scheme has been approved by the state government. It may be formally launched in January-February next year.

Maharishi Balmiki Chatravriti Yojana: Benefit will be available in studies in all the institutions of Jharkhand

Under this scheme, the benefit will be available on enrolling in any institution of Jharkhand. Whereas, in the case of other states, only those students who enroll in institutions that fall in the category of 200 in the overall category and top 100 in the respective category will get the benefit. The beneficiary should be a local resident of Jharkhand.

Also, in case of diploma, it will be mandatory to pass 10th from Jharkhand schools and for degree level courses, it will be mandatory to pass 10th and 12th from Jharkhand schools.
